Coconut – the tropical palm fruit

 Kokos

Coconut

Name: Coconut / Cocos nucifera

Traditional use: Historically coconut has had many uses ranging from coconut water to desiccated coconut, coconut milk to coconut oil. Coconut water has previously been used to rehydrate patients.

Medicinal properties: Coconut water, particularly found in the young coconuts, has a high content of vitamins and minerals. Therefore is a popular liquid vitamin drink.
Coconut oil is interesting because of its many health-giving properties. It is a saturated fatty acid, and with its special molecular structure it has shown to have a particularly beneficial effect on cardiovascular diseases. It has no negative impact on cholesterol levels, as is the general case of saturated fat. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is only found in breast milk. In the body it will be transformed into monolaurin lauric acid, which is a particularly aggressive weapon against bacteria, fungi and viruses. All in all, coconut oil has a whole range of beneficial properties.

Usage:
Since coconut oil is saturated fatty acid, it is ideal for frying. But you can also enjoy it in your coffee, eat it directly on a teaspoon, as oil pulling or body lotion – actually it is a universal tool for everything.
